Starting in the 49th season’s Governors’ Cup, the PBA will debut a four-point shot from 27 feet. While other leagues like the WNBA All-Star game have experimented with it, this marks the first time it will be used in competitive PBA play, promising to reshape the game.

Coaches like Alfrancis Chua believe it will speed up play and challenge zone defenses, forcing teams to adapt. However, head coaches remain cautious. Many, including TNT’s Chot Reyes and Magnolia’s Chito Victolero, prefer to integrate the four-point line naturally, without disrupting team efficiency.
