The “Copy” Button

why it’s always a good idea to use the “Copy” button (instead of typing or pasting manually) when sharing your public key (wallet address):

🔹 1. It Prevents Costly Typos

Crypto wallet addresses are long — typically 40+ characters of random letters and numbers (like 0xA4F1b29C...).
If even one character is wrong, your transaction will fail — or worse, your funds could go to the wrong address forever.
Pressing “Copy” ensures the exact address string is taken from your wallet.

🔹 2. It Avoids Hidden Characters or Spaces

Sometimes, when you highlight and copy an address manually, you might accidentally grab:

  • An invisible space at the start or end
  • A line break from the webpage
  • Or even a unicode variant that looks identical but isn’t the same character

Those small formatting errors can break a transaction. Using the built-in “Copy” icon guarantees a clean, verified copy.

🔹 3. It Protects You From Clipboard Malware

There are clipboard hijacker viruses that detect when you copy a crypto address and replace it with a hacker’s address automatically.
By pressing the “Copy” button inside your wallet app (like MetaMask, Trust Wallet, etc.), the data is copied securely — not through your system clipboard.
That’s an extra layer of protection.

🔹 4. It’s Verified by the App

When you click “Copy,” the wallet app itself confirms it’s copying your actual public key, not a similar-looking one that was typed incorrectly.
You’re pulling the data directly from your wallet’s blockchain address record — not from memory or another document.

In short:

Always use the “Copy” button for your wallet address.
Never type it. Never guess it. Never modify it.

Because in crypto, there are no refunds — and a single missed character can mean a permanent loss.
